The Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0 is a lightweight carbon-plated shoe built for long-distance racing, positioned above the Feiying PB series as the brand's most advanced racer. Its excellent cushioning and strong energy return help you sustain fast efforts, though its narrow platform offers poor stability. It's best suited to racing and faster long runs, as its aggressive design feels less natural at slower paces and during everyday training.

Our Verdict
The Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0 is great for marathon racing. Its lightweight build and cushioning help keep each stride light and protected over long distances. The foam and springy forefoot give energy back as you push off, helping you sustain race pace with less effort. However, the platform is exceptionally narrow, particularly at the heel and arch, so maintaining balance can become more demanding as you tire.
Lightweight build.
Excellent cushioning.
Cushioning holds up during prolonged efforts.
High energy return at the heel and forefoot.
Stiff forefoot with efficient spring-back.
Narrow platform and soft foam limit stability.
The Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0 is good for 5K and 10K racing. Its low weight makes it easier to maintain a quick turnover, while the stiff, springy forefoot helps you push off energetically. However, the soft foam makes that push-off feel less immediate. The curved forefoot also tends to flatten a little under pressure, limiting how effectively it carries you toward toe-off.
Lightweight build.
High energy return at the heel and forefoot.
Stiff forefoot with efficient spring-back.
Rockered forefoot encourages forward rolling.
Soft forefoot makes push-off less immediate.
Rocker flattens under forceful landings.
The Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0 is decent for long runs. Its cushioning holds up well as the distance builds, while its light weight and energetic rebound help you maintain a faster pace. However, the narrow platform offers poor stability, making it more demanding to stay balanced as fatigue sets in. It's better suited to faster race simulations than relaxed long runs.
Excellent cushioning.
Cushioning holds up during prolonged efforts.
Rockered forefoot encourages forward rolling.
Narrow platform and soft foam limit stability.
Limited assistance rolling out of heel-first landings.
Rocker flattens under forceful landings.
The Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0 isn't designed for daily training. Its light weight and excellent cushioning are useful for regular mileage, but the narrow platform offers poor stability, and the stiff carbon-plated forefoot limits flexibility at easy paces. The limited heel curvature also provides little help rolling forward from a rearfoot landing. It's therefore better suited to fast running than everyday easy runs.

Narrow platform and soft foam limit stability.
Stiff plated forefoot limits flexibility for easy runs.
Limited assistance rolling out of heel-first landings.

We've bought and tested more than 300 running shoes. Every pair purchased with our own money, never supplied or sponsored by brands. Our data-driven tests are designed to go beyond marketing claims, and since every shoe goes through the exact same methodology, you can directly compare results to find the right pair for your needs.
Test Results
Design
The Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0 is lightweight, helping keep faster efforts less demanding. Its weight is comparable to the Li-Ning Feidian 6 Elite, though the Qiaodan is a few grams lighter.
The green coloration visible in the 3D model isn't present in the shoe. It's an artifact from the scanning process, which can occur when capturing contrasting colors.
Energy Return
The Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0 has excellent energy return. The foam gives back much of the energy stored during each landing, creating a lively ride that can help you sustain faster paces with less effort. This strong rebound is present beneath both the heel and forefoot, so it works regardless of your strike patterns.
High energy return at the heel and forefoot.
Stability
The Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0 has poor stability. Its platform is particularly narrow through the heel and arch, especially relative to the high stack of foam. That foam is also soft under load, which can create a wobbly sensation as you land and make it harder to stay balanced as you tire.
Narrow platform and soft foam limit stability.
The heel feels soft, though it isn't as plush as exceptionally soft racing shoes like the ASICS METASPEED RAY. There's still plenty of give under load, so it doesn't feel particularly firm overall.
The forefoot feels very soft under load, allowing the foam to give beneath your foot. This creates a forgiving sensation, though push-off feels less direct than it would with a firmer midsole.
A cutout between the midsole's foam layers exposes part of the curved carbon plate. This split construction recalls the adidas Adizero Prime X3 STRUNG, though the Qiaodan uses a single carbon plate rather than a plate combined with carbon rods. The tongue is non-gusseted.
Cushioning
The Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0 provides excellent cushioning, with strong impact protection beneath both the heel and forefoot. It cushions gentler landings particularly well and remains protective when you land with more force, making it suitable for lighter runners as well as heavier runners or those running at faster paces.
Excellent cushioning.
Heel cushioning is great overall, with outstanding protection at lighter test loads and good protection at the highest tested force. This gives heel strikers useful impact absorption across a range of running speeds and body weights.
Forefoot cushioning is excellent, absorbing plenty of impact energy across the tested forces. It provides strong protection for gentler landings while remaining forgiving when you land harder, whether because of your weight or running pace.
Forefoot cushioning holds up extremely well as the distance accumulates, with only a small decline in impact absorption during our simulated long run. This test simulates 50 km of running, and the sustained protection makes this cushioning well suited to long runs and long-distance races.
Wet & Warm Weather
The Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0 is excellent for wet and warm weather. Its highly breathable upper helps heat escape on warm runs, while its low water absorption limits the extra weight it picks up in the rain. It also dries reasonably quickly afterward, though a thoroughly soaked pair may still need most of a day to dry completely.
Breathability is outstanding. As visible in our microscope image, the upper's open construction allows air to pass through easily, helping heat escape during warm runs.
Bounciness
The Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0 offers good bounciness. The foam lets your foot sink in as you land, then rebounds energetically as you unload it, creating a lively sensation beneath both the heel and forefoot.
High energy return at the heel and forefoot.
Noticeable give beneath the heel and forefoot.
Midsole doesn't compress particularly deeply.
Snappiness
The Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0 offers decent snappiness. Its stiff forefoot springs back strongly as you push off, helping you move into the next stride. However, the soft foam compresses beneath your foot, and the moderate upward angle provides a gentler tipping motion, making toe-off feel less direct and immediate.
Stiff forefoot with efficient spring-back.
Soft forefoot makes push-off less immediate.
The forefoot returns an excellent amount of energy as it springs back after bending. This contributes to a snappy feel at push-off, helping you move into the next stride during fast running.
Roll
The Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0 provides a good rolling motion. Its curved forefoot maintains its shape reasonably well under pressure, helping guide your foot forward toward toe-off. The heel has less curvature, so runners who land farther back get less assistance during the initial transition.
Stiff forefoot with efficient spring-back.
Rockered forefoot encourages forward rolling.
Rocker flattens under forceful landings.
The rocker maintains its shape reasonably well under pressure, but it does flatten somewhat as force increases. Heavier and/or faster runners may therefore experience less of its rolling effect.
True To Size
The Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0 fits true to size overall, and most runners can confidently choose their usual size. The arch is slightly narrow, and the forefoot has a little less vertical room above the toes, but these are relatively minor deviations consistent with a snug racing fit that prioritizes lockdown.
True-to-size length.
Forefoot width matches expected sizing.
Snug midfoot and low toe box.
Popular Running Shoe Comparisons
The Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0 competes with other Chinese racing shoes, such as the Li-Ning Feidian 6 Elite, both positioned as alternatives to established Western options like the adidas Adizero Adios Pro 5. The Qiaodan comes close to the adidas in energy return and cushioning, helping sustain fast paces while keeping landings forgiving. It's also very lightweight, though not quite as light as the adidas, but because it usually retails for a much lower price, the Qiaodan offers much better value. However, since Qiaodan and Li-Ning usually retail for about the same price, the Li-Ning is the better option overall thanks to its bouncier, more cushioned ride.

The Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0 is the better long-distance racer than the ANTA C202 7, offering a lighter build, more cushioning, and stronger energy return, making it more efficient overall. Its softer ride also maintains its cushioning better over extended efforts, making it more appealing for longer races and fast long runs. The ANTA trades some of that protection and rebound for a firmer, more direct feel and better stability, which can suit runners who prefer a more controlled ride during shorter races.
The Li-Ning Feidian 6 Elite is the better overall option than the Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0, offering more cushioning, stronger energy return, and better stability. That combination makes it particularly appealing for fast long runs and longer races, where you want forgiving landings and a lively ride as the distance builds. The Qiaodan is slightly lighter, but its exceptionally narrow platform feels less stable and offers no clear advantage in cushioning or rebound. At similar prices, choose the Li-Ning for the more complete package, unless keeping weight down is your main priority.
The XTEP 160X 7.0 PRO is the better all-round choice for racing and fast long runs than the Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0, primarily because it offers greater stability, along with strong cushioning and energy return. That said, the Qiaodan makes a compelling case for race day, as it's noticeably lighter and feels softer under the heel without sacrificing much cushioning overall. Its main compromise is a much less stable platform.
The Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0 offers better value than the adidas Adizero Adios Pro 5, delivering similarly strong cushioning and energy return at a much lower selling price. Both offer forgiving landings and lively rebound to sustain fast race paces. The adidas is noticeably lighter and more stable, making it the better racing shoe if cost isn't a concern, but those advantages come at a substantial premium. Choose the Qiaodan for competitive racing performance at a lower cost, but pay more for the adidas if you prioritize lower weight to get the last few percent of efficiency.
Differences Between Sizes And Variants
We tested the Qiaodan Feiying Plaid 3.0 in men's U.S. size 9, as indicated on the label of our unit. The specific colorway shown here is Pulse. This model is available in multiple colorways, including Purple Fortune Comes from the East, Forget-Me-Not, and Cross the Finish Line, names that tell quite a story, just not what color the shoe is. Availability is still variable depending on the region; in North America, it's possible to find the shoe through some online retailers, such as shopnings. Most of our review results are valid for all variants, though the design section applies only to the model we tested. We expect other size and gender variants to perform similarly.
