Our Verdict

Sony A95L OLED

LG G5 OLED

The LG G5 OLED and the Sony A95L OLED trade blows, but the LG is the better TV overall. The Sony has the advantage when it comes to colors, so it delivers more vivid colors in some content. However, the LG is certainly no slouch when it comes to color performance. On the other hand, the LG is brighter in HDR, so highlights and purely bright scenes are punchier in HDR. The LG also offers lower input lag, supports 165Hz, and supports FreeSync VRR, making it the more complete package for gamers. Finally, the LG is brighter in SDR and has better overall reflection handling, making it more suitable for bright rooms.

The LG G5 is pretty much now on par with the sony A5L for displaying bright, vivid colours at high luminance levels due to it being so bright and in some of these tests the G5 actually seems to actually surpass the A95L in terms of sheer luminance for yellows, greens, whites and cyans. The A95L does seem to have better coverage of the BT.2020 colour space though albeit marginally so.

This review seems extremely bias. Like, the Sony beating your sponsors in every competition possible is making you all mad. When Sony has an advatage in color, motion handling, and auto calibration it gets minimal change in scoring. But, when LG has an advantage over the LG the margin is much smaller in points. But in the actual performance the Sony is way better. I see both of them. 4 times a week. Every week. And this review is worthless. It’s like you are using your previous reputation of being unbiased and just dropping in reviews like this.

  3. Hello! I am still very much thinking about buying the SONY A95L 77 TV. Do You think that the SONY A95L TV is still a future TV? I know that it is an outstanding TV that in a sense was ahead of its time. I am seriously considering buying the SONY A95L 77 OR LG OLED G5 77 this year. All I care about is an outstanding image in DOLBY VISION, HDR AND SDR for watching normal TV. From what you wrote to me, the A95L has an even better image than the LG OLED G5 despite being 2 years older. I am very much inclined to buy the SONY A95L. I am planning to buy a TV this year for 5-6 years and I am a little afraid that the A95L will become a little outdated much faster. Please let me know if the SONY A95 L in 2025 is still a guarantee of very high quality and can be safely considered as a TV with outstanding image quality for years to come? Thank you very much for all your opinions and best regards, Jarek
