Our Verdict

Acer Nitro XV275K P3biipruzx

AOC Q27G3XMN

The Acer Nitro XV275K P3biipruzx and the AOC Q27G3XMN are 27-inch gaming monitors meant for different types of gamers. The AOC has an advantage for gamers because it has much better motion handling across its VRR range, but it has more black smearing than the Acer. That said, the AOC also has lower input lag and a better local dimming feature for improved picture quality in dark scenes. On the other hand, the Acer is better for console gaming, as it has a higher 4k resolution and HDMI 2.1 bandwidth to take full advantage of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Acer also has less VRR flicker with changing frame rates, which is good if your PC can't maintain consistent frame rates.

Hard to choose really, my question is how bad is the blooming on the Acer? Like real usecase scenario, for example subtitles in a movie, those I can make grey so that really is no issue but in games like cutscenes you usually can’t do that. Also just bright scenes in a movie overall. How bad is it is there some kind of a video test? Ty

You can read about the blooming in the Local Dimming section of the review. It doesn’t eliminate all blooming, but it isn’t the worst case of it either.

The AOC seems to have better value for the refresh rate + lack of overshooting backlighting and decent color gamut but I wish it’s color accuracy and text clarity were better, because in comparison it seems a little warm, especially at the bad viewing angles. The Acer Nitro model # makes it hard to differ from another model named similar on ACER’s Site. Acer’s is a whole 300+ dollars more for minimal improvement in my opinion. I wish there was a monitor that was best of both worlds/monitors, and a decent price like the AOC. The Black uniformity I just can’t let go under a 7 rating because its so messy and hard to look at.

I’ve read some reviews and the backlighting was absolutely atrocious. What was your experience like with the acer in that case? would you recommend the aoc over the acer for that reason?
