    Hi @Rtingstv. When we test for supported resolutions, we only say that it supports a format if it is able to display it properly. We didn’t mention the issue you are seeing simply because we didn’t have that issue on ours when we tested it. We would like to try and recreate your issue though, so we can properly inform our readers. Would it possible for you to let us know what settings you are using on the TV, and what you have your PC set to output? Also, what graphics card are you using? Have you tried with a different HDMI cable?

    I tried three different hdmi cables. I am using an nvidia gtx 1080ti. Latest drivers I have my pc to output 1440p 120hz custom resolution in nvidia control panel, with timing set to cvt reduced blank. Scaling is set to display in nvidia control panel. My settings for the x900f is game.

    Also the same issue can be seen with 1080p 120hz custom resolution timing standard.

    If the tv were able to display the image properly as you say , that suggests that the entire image is displayed properly, this includes color. For this reason I believe that the review for the x900f can be misleading. When I see that 1440p at 120hz supported and given how in depth most of your other tests seem to be, i thought I would have a decent image displayed on the screen.

    look at colors other than black. Take a look at colors that are deep and saturated at 4K 60 then change your resolution to 1440p or 1080p 120hz and watch the colors become washed out(lacking in color) or just play a colorful game and flip back and forth between resolution with higher refresh rates and this with lower refresh rates.

    We will retest this and get back to you. What color format are you using in 1440p @ 120Hz? 8 bit, 4:4:4?

    Rgb 8bit full is the main one I try when using nvidia custom resolution But I have switched to limited and still got the same result. by using a piece of software I found online I could create a custom resolution that allowed me to try 422 10 bit limited. Nothing changed. They all have the same problem. I don’t even think that changing them did anything. I tried changing the hdmi from auto to full to limited on the x900f and noticed that some were obviously wrong this was best left to auto. In other words the washed out colors were not washed enough to prove that this was a Mismatch between the x900f settings and the nvidia color settings, rather the tv left on Auto would choose the apporiate range limited or full or whatever. yet the colors all shifted to a lighter shade. I think there is something going on with the gamma at 120hz .

    man don’t use Nvidia Control Panel for setting custom resolutions, it is trash, I couldn’t even get my x900f to support 1440p @ 120hz & when I finally got it working (tried different cable) it looked terrible & no games were showing the option, there is a program called “CRU” it is way better to use, now I have 1440p @ 120hz stable & it shows up in every game, there is a guide on setting up CRU here, its very easy to do https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfjVwuCYniQ

    I did notice the colours seem over saturated at 120hz but not the inaccuracy you are getting, I haven’t had the tv long but plan on doing a calibration in the next few days to correct it, I have noticed the HDMI cable can play a big part in picture quality, I think it requires a certified 18gbps cable to do 1440p @ 120hz stable so perhaps that could be causing the issue

    FYI the default colour setting for game mode is 55 but I have reduced mine to 50, I also use expert 1 colour profile, I have turned off xtended dynamic range aswell because the tv is just way too bright outside of HDR with it enabled

    Yup got this tv for the 1440p 120hz , and at this point I think I may have been slightly misled by the info on this site as it is presented right now. You may have a point about the cable. But I do have two hdmi 2.0 cable that I know for sure are hdmi 2.0 . Also have 2 other cables that worked on the Vizio but I am unsure of their rating.

    If you have a chance try comparing colors on your desktop like I mentioned, make sure to have advanced contrast enhancer and xtended dynamic range set to high to see the effect at its worst. If you have a chrome shortcut on your desktop you can look at the colors in its logo when you do the switch in resolutions.

    I may try a new cable at some point.

    After calibrating the picture for 1440p@120hz everything turned out perfect with the exception of red having DE 3.1 in the 100 range but after 3 days of tweaking i wasnt complaining, was so brutal calibrating with local dimming on, low & high were impossible but managed to get it done on medium

    picture is great now (better than my old ex500) id recommend setting windows scaling to 150%, ended up with color set to 53 but obviously this & my finner color settings are specific to my tv so i wont bother sharing them

    We just tested it on our X900F. We noticed that when we first set the custom resolution, NVIDIA set the color format to YCbCr, which resulted in a few strange colors, and a greenish tint to the image. Setting the colors back to RGB fixed the issue.

    Could you check your graphics settings, and the TV settings? Would it be possible to send us pictures of both, as well as an image of the screen showing the strange colors?

    I know this TV is getting abit long in the tooth but i figured i should share an important piece of information i discovered a year ago

    when forcing 120hz 1440p through Custom Resolution Utility, & then using the recommended settings from rtings, the image was really washed out looking but when running at 4K 60hz or 1080p 60hz i noticed everything seemed excellent

    it appears that when forcing the TV to 120hz 1440p (at least through CRU, not sure about Nvidia Control Panel) the gamma is way off, setting the gamma to “min” seems to fix this issue, i also discovered playing any HDR game at 120hz 1440p that requires “HDR” to be enabled in windows “Display Settings” prior to launching the game, will also require the gamma to be set to “min”, otherwise the picture will be extremely washed out, this however does not seem to be the case with HDR games that can enable HDR ingame, without the need for it to be set in windows first

    this would explain why i had so much trouble trying to calibrate the TV while in 120hz 1440p, an annoyance i could have really done without :|
