TCL 1 Series/D100 Calibration Settings

For additional settings information, please consult the Common Problems and How to Calibrate pages.

Here are the settings that were used to review the TCL D100 TV. These settings are good for every use, from movie watching to gaming since there is no game mode available and the input lag does not really change from one mode to another.

General settings

Start off by selecting the 'User' 'Picture Mode' since it is the mode that allows you to change most of the settings. The other picture mode uses preset settings and they can't be changed. The 'Backlight' was adjusted to 24 to have our desired luminance of 100 cd/m² in our totally black room, but you can adjust this to your room lighting without affecting the picture quality. 'Brightness', 'Contrast' and 'Saturation' were left untouched. 'Sharpness' was set to minimum so that the content would look as close to what it was intended by the creator, without over sharpness. 'Tint' was left untouched, but was not available anyway in this picture mode. The 'Color mode' here is the equivalent of the color temperature in other brands of TV and was set to 'Warm' since it was the color temperature the more accurate. Finally, 'Dynamic Backlight' was left 'Off' since once again, we did not want the TV to change the native look of the video content.

In the 'Advanced' menu, the 'Zoom Mode' aspect ratio is left to 'PointToPoint' for 4k content, but this should be adjusted to scale lower resolution images to the screen. The '3DNR' was left off during our testing, but this option can be turned on if you are watching older low-resolution content as this may help reduce visible noise and artifacts.
