The NuPhy WH80 is a gaming keyboard that uses Hall effect switches. It supports adjustable actuation and features wireless connectivity with a polling rate of up to 8,000Hz. It's made of a mix of plastic and aluminium and includes a relatively stiff gasket mount. The keyboard also includes multiple layers of foam and silicone that help round out the sound profile for a better typing experience. Like other NuPhy keyboards, it uses the NuPhy IO software suite, which lets you adjust actuation and backlighting, as well as enable advanced features like Rapid Trigger and SOCD.

Our Verdict

0.0
Gaming

The NuPhy WH80 is an outstanding gaming keyboard that delivers superb latency performance alongside an 8,000Hz polling rate. It also offers wireless connectivity, which is rare at this level of performance. The software is well-designed and includes all the features you'd expect from a high-end gaming keyboard. Build quality is equally impressive. NuPhy opted for a plastic case with aluminum accents that feels very well-assembled. The prelubed magnetic switches feel smooth, and multiple dampening layers create a refined sound signature. The gasket mount adds some cushioning while retaining a lot of stiffness.

Pros
  • Outstanding build quality.

  • Outstandingly low latency performance.

  • Supports wireless 2.4Ghz connection and multi-device pairing over Bluetooth.

  • Intuitive, feature-rich software with extensive actuation settings and advanced functions.

  • Includes shine-through keycaps that allow you to read the legends in the dark.

  • Extremely sensitive switches with minimal deadzones.

Cons
  • True analog output doesn't work as expected.

Office

While it's not designed for office use, the NuPhy WH80 still makes an excellent choice for that setting. It has an outstanding build quality and wireless connectivity via 2.4GHz receiver or Bluetooth, supporting up to three paired devices. The typing experience is just as strong, with prelubed switches and stabilizers that feel smooth, stable, and consistent with very little rattle. This is also backed by multiple layers of acoustic material that dampen and round out the sound profile. The tall profile can be less ergonomic over long sessions, so pairing it with a wrist rest is recommended for the best comfort.

Pros
  • Outstanding build quality.

  • Supports wireless 2.4Ghz connection and multi-device pairing over Bluetooth.

  • Amazing typing experience.

Cons
  • High profile might make it uncomfortable to use over long periods without a wrist rest.

Mobile/Tablet

The NuPhy WH80 is okay with a mobile or tablet setup, but it's clearly not intended for this use case. Although it works via Bluetooth, it's a large, heavy keyboard that's very cumbersome to travel with.

Pros
  • Outstanding build quality.

  • Supports wireless 2.4Ghz connection and multi-device pairing over Bluetooth.

Cons
  • Heavy and bulky design.

Programming

The NuPhy WH80 is an excellent keyboard for programming, combining outstanding build quality with prelubed switches and stabilizers and multiple layers of acoustic dampening for an extremely satisfying typing experience. It connects wirelessly via a 2.4GHz receiver or Bluetooth, supporting up to three paired devices at once. While it doesn't have dedicated macro keys, the web-based configuration software lets you assign macros to any key on the board. Full RGB backlighting and a set of shine-through keycaps round out the package, keeping everything clearly visible even in low-light environments.

Pros
  • Outstanding build quality.

  • Supports wireless 2.4Ghz connection and multi-device pairing over Bluetooth.

  • Amazing typing experience.

  • Includes shine-through keycaps that allow you to read the legends in the dark.

Cons
  • High profile might make it uncomfortable to use over long periods without a wrist rest.

Entertainment / HTPC

The NuPhy WH80 works adequately in a home theater setup. It has an outstanding build quality and wireless connectivity via USB receiver or Bluetooth. That said, the lack of dedicated media keys and its heavy, bulky design make it less convenient to use from the couch. On the plus side, full RGB backlighting and easily readable legends when using the clear keycaps make it a solid choice for low-light environments.

Pros
  • Outstanding build quality.

  • Supports wireless 2.4Ghz connection and multi-device pairing over Bluetooth.

  • Includes shine-through keycaps that allow you to read the legends in the dark.

Cons
  • Heavy and bulky design.

  • No dedicated media keys.

Raw Performance

The NuPhy WH80 delivers superb raw performance and works well across all gaming genres. Single-key and multi-key latency are both exceptionally low, resulting in fast and responsive input throughout. An effective polling rate of 8,000Hz, combined with switches with minimal dead zones, keeps performance virtually flawless. On top of that, the wireless connectivity fully leverages the polling rate without any bottlenecking from other latency sources.

Pros
  • Outstandingly low latency performance.

  • Extremely sensitive switches with minimal deadzones.

The NuPhy WH80 gaming keyboard is available in Nova Black or Nova White. We bought our unit in the Nova White colorway that comes bundled with an extra set of clear keycaps with pink accents. Here's our keyboard's label and a picture of the keyboard with the clear keycaps installed.

    Popular Keyboard Comparisons

The NuPhy WH80 is a great entry into an increasingly competitive segment. It has an outstanding build quality and matching latency performance . It's even able to deliver an 8000Hz polling rate that keeps an extremely high level of performance wirelessly, which is still rare for Hall effect keyboards. This is also an amazing keyboard for typing and regular desktop use. The switches are smooth and stable, and the multiple layers of dampening create a very pleasing sound signature. NuPhy's software is also among the best in the industry: it's well-designed and includes all the features you might expect from a keyboard of this class.

Overall, the NuPhy WH80 doesn't have any major flaws: it's outstanding for gaming thanks to its extremely sensitive switches and exceptional latency performance, while delivering an excellent typing experience with a satisfying sound signature. Its main differentiating factor compared to other high-end models like the Wooting 80HE, the Razer Huntsman V3 Pro 8KHz, or even Qwertykeys Hex80 is that it adds wireless connectivity to the package for much more flexibility. It also comes with two sets of keycaps and a carrying case, which somewhat helps justify its high price. The cheaper Lemokey P1 HE is a good alternative, but its raw performance isn't quite as good, even if it should be good enough for most gamers.

    Wooting 80HE

    Track

The NuPhy WH80 and the Wooting 80HE are both Hall effect keyboards with exceptional raw performance, delivering latency that should satisfy even the most demanding gamers. The Wooting stands out with its four-year warranty and industry-leading software, though its layout omits certain navigation keys and is slightly more compact than a standard TKL. It also comes in both a cheaper plastic case and an aluminum case variant. The WH80 sets itself apart with wireless connectivity that maintains the full 8,000Hz polling rate, and it delivers slightly better typing quality out of the box than the Wooting.

    Wooting 60HE v2

    Track

The Wooting 60HE v2 and the NuPhy WH80 each have their strengths, and choosing the right one depends on your priorities. Both deliver outstanding raw performance with extremely sensitive switches and extremely low latency. The Wooting has a 60% layout, which omits the F-row, arrow keys, and numpad to give you as much desk space as possible, while the WH80 has a TenKeyLess layout that keeps everything but the numpad for a more standard layout. The NuPhy also includes wireless connectivity, which could be a big plus if you plan to use your keyboard on multiple devices. It's also better for typing with a more refined sound signature. The Wooting, on the other hand, offers an industry-leading 4-year warranty and an extremely well-implemented software suite that set it apart.

    Qwertykeys Hex80

    Track

The NuPhy WH80 and the Qwertykeys Hex80 are high-end Hall effect keyboards with exceptional raw performance. Both keyboards have outstanding build quality and offer amazing typing experiences. The Qwertykeys takes a slight edge in build quality thanks to its full-metal build, which feels slightly more premium in hand. Where the NuPhy differentiates itself is its inclusion of wireless connectivity compatible with the 8000 Hz polling rate, which remains rare in this segment. NuPhy's software is also slightly more polished, but both keyboards will give you all the tools you need to customize their behaviour to your liking.

    Corsair VANGUARD PRO 96

    Track

The Corsair VANGUARD PRO 96 and the NuPhy WH80 are both high-end gaming keyboards with customizable actuation settings and exceptional performance. The NuPhy comes in a TKL layout, while the Corsair goes a bit bigger with a compact 96% layout that squeezes in a numpad. That said, the Corsair showed some underlying stability issues during testing, particularly when using the included cable. The WH80 pulls ahead with wireless connectivity, making it a great option for multi-device setups, and it also feels more solidly built with a slightly better typing experience. The Corsair fights back with an LCD display, five customizable macro keys, and a two-year warranty, which is more than twice the coverage NuPhy offers.
