Razer Pro Type
Razer Pro Type Ultra
The Razer Pro Type and the Razer Pro Type Ultra are nearly identical, but the Ultra comes with a wrist rest. Also, the Ultra uses the Razer Productivity Dongle, meaning you can connect another device to it if it uses the same receiver as well. While the Pro Type comes with tactile Razer Orange switches only, the Ultra comes with linear Razer Yellow switches only.

Hey mushi! The original Razer Pro Type uses tactile Razer Orange switches (Gen 2), while the newer Razer Pro Type Ultra comes with linear Razer Yellow switches (Gen 2). It’s also possible that more recent Pro Type Ultra units are now shipping with Gen 3 Yellow switches, but Razer hasn’t officially confirmed this anywhere—and their own documentation can be pretty unclear about this.
The easiest way to distinguish between switches is visually.
From what we’ve seen in our testing, Razer Gen 2 switches also feature a round LED bulb on the top edge of the switch. You can see a photo from our review here.
In contrast, Razer Gen 3 switches have an arched LED diffuser, which you can see in the far left in this image from our Razer Yellow Gen 3 switch review.
What generation switches does the ultra have? How to distinguish?
