The Epson WorkForce WF-2950 is an all-in-one inkjet printer intended for small offices. It replaces the Epson WorkForce WF-2850 but remains very similar in design, with only minor changes beneath the skin. It features a flatbed scanner with a height-adjustable hinge, an automatic document feeder, and an integrated fax. It uses Epson 232 ink cartridges. While it's also compatible with high-capacity 232XL black cartridges, no high-capacity XL color cartridges are available. It offers USB and Wi-Fi connectivity and support for Mopria Print Service and Apple AirPrint.
Our Verdict
The Epson WF-2950 is decent for family use. Its page yield is pretty low, so you'll be swapping cartridges often; even though replacements are inexpensive, ink costs can add up quickly if your family prints multi-page documents regularly. Its scanner isn't the fastest on the market and can't automatically process double-sided documents, but scans are remarkably sharp, and you can extend the lid hinges, meaning it can accept scans from magazines or picture books. While color accuracy is poor and insufficient for professional or semi-professional use, this isn't as noticeable if you print photos only occasionally for casual use. Besides, printed photos and documents look very sharp and detailed.
- Has flatbed scanner and ADF.
- Decent range of connection options.
- Good printed document quality.
- Slow printing speed.
- Low page yields.
- Somewhat cheap build quality.
The Epson WF-2950 is a mediocre option for home offices. It prints slowly and uses cartridges with a very low page yield, so you'll need to swap them out often if you're frequently printing multi-page documents. Even though replacement cartridges are very cheap, you'll spend a lot on replacement ink. Thankfully, its scanner is equipped with an automatic document feeder, allowing you to quickly process multiple single-sided pages, though it doesn't offer duplex scanning capability.

The Epson WF-2950 is an okay choice for students. Despite the cheap cost of replacement cartridges, cost-per-print is still high due to their low page yield. It also isn't the best option if you have to print out a long multi-page assignment at the last possible moment due to its slow printing speed. Thankfully, its fairly wide assortment of connectivity options lets you print from multiple types of devices without too much effort. Its flatbed scanner also features an automatic document feeder, letting you quickly scan multi-page single-sided documents.

The Epson WF-2950 does adequately with high-volume black-and-white printing. Its standard cartridges have a very low page yield, so you'll need to replace them often if you're frequently printing long documents. A higher-capacity black ink cartridge is available, but page yield is still on the lower end of the scale. It also prints very slowly, so you'll wait a while when printing a stack of sheets. However, overall print quality is quite sharp, with text being easily legible and most fine details being well-resolved.
- Decent range of connection options.
- Good printed document quality.
- Slow printing speed.
- Low page yields.
The Epson WF-2950 is a good choice for printing photos. While color accuracy isn't likely to hold up to professional scrutiny, it's still sufficient for printing the occasional family photo or for incorporating images in school assignments. Printed photos look sharp and detailed, and the printer can print in a wide variety of sizes. It uses cartridges with a low page yield, so you'll need to swap them out often if you print many photos.

The Canon PIXMA TR4720/TR4722 and Epson WorkForce WF-2950 are both budget inkjet printers intended for home offices, though the Epson is a much better fit for that kind of use. The WF-3820 produces higher quality documents, prints faster, and yields significantly more prints, making it cheaper to maintain. Its color range isn't as good as the WF-2950, but it produces finer details in photos and is more color accurate. On the other hand, the WF-2950 produces much better scans.
The Epson WorkForce WF-2850 and Epson WorkForce WF-2950 perform very similarly, though there are minor differences. The WF-2950 offers superior scan quality, but the ET-2850 has a slightly wider color gamut when printing photos and marginally better color accuracy.
