The Boring Mattress provides an excellent sleeping experience. It does an excellent job of isolating motion, making it a good choice if you sleep with a partner who tosses and turns. You only feel their larger movements, and they don't travel throughout the mattress, or last very long, so they're not likely to wake you up. This mattress also has excellent edge support. Extra polyfoam built into the sides adds support, so you can sit or sleep near the edge without feeling like you could slip off. It's easy to move around or change sleeping positions, too, thanks to this mattress's fantastic responsiveness. This mattress also keeps you quite cool overnight, so it's a good choice if you often wake up overheated. One downside, however, is that it transfers heat more slowly in the first hour after you lie down, so it's not the best choice if you have trouble falling asleep in a warm environment.
Very good at keeping you cool throughout the night.
Excellent edge support extends the comfortable sleeping area.
Excellent motion dissipation means that movement is less likely to wake you.
Fantastic responsiveness makes it easy to shift sleeping positions.
Contains only good and high-quality foam, which resists sagging and indentations.
Ideal for light to average back and stomach sleepers and average to heavier side sleepers.
Not ideal for lighter side sleepers or heavier back and stomach sleepers.
The Boring Mattress is great at keeping you cool. It transfers a lot of heat away from you overnight, keeping you cool even if you tend to sleep hot or wake up overheated. That said, it transfers heat more slowly during the first hour of the night. If you often have a hard time falling asleep because of the heat, this could become an issue.
Very good at keeping you cool throughout the night.
The Boring Mattress offers excellent motion isolation and dissipation. You only feel larger movements, and even then, they don't travel throughout the mattress, and the motion dissipates very quickly. If you sleep with a partner or have a pet who jumps on and off the bed at night, you'll feel their bigger shifts nearby, but they're not likely to wake you up.
Excellent motion dissipation means that movement is less likely to wake you.
The Boring Mattress delivers excellent edge support. The sides are reinforced with polyfoam that doesn't compress easily, so you can sit or lie near the edge without feeling like you could slip off. This extends the comfortable sleeping area and makes it easier to get in and out of bed.
Excellent edge support extends the comfortable sleeping area.
The Boring Mattress is exceptionally responsive. It's easy to change sleeping positions and move around on the surface of the mattress, since it adapts to your movements almost instantly.
Fantastic responsiveness makes it easy to shift sleeping positions.
Since this mattress is an excellent choice for side sleepers, we added a link to our picks for the best mattresses for side sleepers for users looking for more options in this category.
The Boring Mattress Co. mattress comes in Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, and California King sizes. It's a medium hybrid mattress, and the manufacturer also produces an all-foam model, the Boring AF (All-Foam) Mattress. We tested the Queen-size model, and our results are only valid for that variant. See the label for our unit.
If you come across another variant or have experience with a variant that performs differently, let us know in the comments.
The Boring Mattress is an excellent mid-range bed-in-a-box mattress from the Boring Mattress Company. This mattress stands out for the materials it uses. Many hybrid options, even higher-end ones like the Beautyrest Harmony Lux, use some amount of low-quality foam that can prematurely develop indentations and begin to sag. However, this mattress only uses good or high-quality foam that lasts longer. Its performance also competes with the best hybrid mattresses we've tested, offering a solid all-around sleeping experience. It's particularly good at motion isolation, which some hybrids struggle with because of their bouncy spring layer. This mattress combines less bouncy springs and a memory foam layer, which helps it absorb motion. It has fantastic responsiveness as well, and while it can't compete with latex options like the Saatva Latex Hybrid, since latex is such a responsive material, it's likely responsive enough for most users. Overall, it's an excellent choice that works especially well for side sleepers and measures up to much pricier picks.

The Boring Mattress and Purple Mattress are well-matched overall, but each has its own strengths. The Boring has the edge when it comes to motion isolation, especially edge support. You feel less movement on the Boring, so it's a good choice if you sleep with a partner who tosses and turns. Its excellent edge support also benefits partnered sleeping, since you can comfortably sleep near the edge, extending the usable sleeping area. The Purple, on the other hand, outperforms the Boring when it comes to cooling and responsiveness. It keeps you cool as you fall asleep and throughout the night, and it's very easy to shift sleeping positions. These characteristics aren't common for a foam mattress, since they tend to trap heat and absorb motion, so the Purple is an especially good choice if you're looking for a foam mattress with these qualities.
The Boring Mattress and the Beautyrest Harmony Lux seem well matched, but the Boring has an advantage that makes it the better choice for most users. That advantage is in the density of the foam, which correlates to quality and durability. The Beautyrest uses low-quality foam throughout the mattress, making premature indentations and sagging very likely. Conversely, the Boring uses good and high-quality foam, which extends the life of the mattress overall. So, if durability is a consideration, the Boring is the better choice. If you're not concerned about longevity, either mattress should suit you. The Boring has a slight advantage in cooling and motion dissipation, while the Beautyrest has better edge support, but there's not a huge difference in any of these areas.
The Boring Mattress is better than the Nectar Classic Hybrid. It's a much more responsive mattress, so it's easier to move around and change sleeping positions on the Boring. It also provides increased edge support over the Nectar, so you can sleep close to the edge without worrying about falling off. The Boring is also more cooling than the Nectar, albeit by a smaller margin. It's slightly more cooling as you fall asleep and throughout the night. The one area where the Nectar outperforms the Boring is in motion dissipation, but the difference is so small that you're unlikely to notice it—both mattresses are excellent in this regard, so you only notice larger movements, and only for a moment.
The Boring Mattress is a better option than the Casper Snow for most people. The Boring is a more responsive mattress, with better edge support. This mattress makes it easy to move around or shift sleeping positions, and you can sleep right near the edge without feeling like you could slide off, unlike with the Casper. That said, the Casper keeps you cooler, especially at the beginning of the night. If cooling is your top priority, you may prefer the Casper, but otherwise, the Boring is a better bet.
We've recently started testing mattresses. We use objective data and repeatable testing for key characteristics like firmness, cooling, and motion isolation, to ensure each mattress gets the same treatment. Since we buy all of our mattresses, we can tear them down layer by layer and isolate the mechanical properties of every component: quilted tops, foams, coils, and any special materials. Our approach gives us unprecedented insight into how each product design decision contributes to a mattress's overall performance and feel, and allows us to tailor our results to different body types and sleeping positions.
This medium mattress is best suited to average-sized and heavier side sleepers as well as average-sized and lighter back and stomach sleepers. Lighter side sleepers may want something softer that allows their hips and shoulders to sink further in, while heavier back and stomach sleepers may want something firmer to keep the spine aligned.
The Boring Mattress is moderately bouncy. It's not as bouncy as a typical innerspring or latex mattress, but compared to other hybrids, especially those that contain memory foam, it's quite bouncy and avoids the static sensation of a foam mattress.
You sink fairly deeply into the Boring Mattress, and it contours your body pretty closely, too, leading to a feeling of being cradled and hugged, but not completely enveloped. Since the memory foam layer is below a layer of polyfoam, not everyone will interact with it to the same degree. Heavier people will feel more of this layer, resulting in increased contouring.
This is a superbly responsive mattress. It recovers its shape almost instantly after you compress it, adapting to your movements, so it's easy to move around and change sleeping positions.
This mattress is excellent at isolating motion, so you don't feel every little shift. You still notice larger movements, for example, you feel movement in the lumbar area when your sleeping partner rolls over, but they don't travel throughout the mattress. Motion also dissipates very quickly, so it's less likely to wake you up.
The Boring Mattress provides excellent edge support. You can sit or lie near the edge without worrying about slipping off, thanks to the additional polyfoam built into the sides. This extra support makes it easier to get in or out of bed, too.
This mattress is great at keeping you cool throughout the night, making it a strong choice for hot sleepers who often wake up overheated. That said, it transfers heat more slowly for the first hour after you lie down, which may be an issue if you have trouble falling asleep in a warm environment.
There's additional polyfoam built into the border of the mattress, offering extra resistance when you sit or sleep near the edges. This helps give the mattress its excellent edge support.
This mattress has two layers of foam above its pocket spring support system. The upper comfort layer is made of Energex Responsive Foam, a type of polyfoam marketed for its combination of pressure relief and responsiveness. The transition layer below is memory foam. This configuration leads to a responsive surface that retains some of memory foam's common benefits, like pressure relief and motion isolation, while avoiding some of the related pitfalls, like low responsiveness and the 'lifeless' feeling often associated with memory foam.
This mattress's foam is of good quality. For polyfoam and memory foam, density is correlated with both quality and durability. The polyfoam upper comfort layer is dense enough to be considered high quality, while the memory foam layer below reaches the standard for good quality foam. These dense layers of foam will resist sagging and body impressions for longer than less dense, lower-quality foams, extending the life of your mattress.
This mattress has 3 inches (7.5 cm) of foam above its layer of pocket coils. The polyfoam upper comfort layer is 2 inches (5 cm) thick and provides a responsive surface that makes it easy to shift sleeping positions. Most people will fully compress this upper layer and feel the 1-inch (2.5 cm) memory foam transition layer to some extent, too. The transition layer adds additional contouring and pressure relief while ensuring you don't feel the individual springs below.
Pocket springs make up the support layer of this mattress. This design uses individually-wrapped coils, so each spring can move independently from the adjacent coils, allowing for increased contouring and better motion isolation compared to other types of springs. The 14-gauge springs have a medium firmness, and the layer has an average density. Combined with the softer upper layers, they give the mattress a medium firmness overall.
The polyfoam upper comfort layer is soft. It creates a cushioned sleeping surface that relieves pressure. The transition foam is firmer, with a medium feel that helps ensure you don't sink too far into the mattress or feel the individual springs below.
The support layer of this mattress is made up of pocket springs. They offer moderate support at the head and foot of the mattress and a little extra resistance at the lumbar to offer extra support to the heaviest parts of the body—the hips or lumbar, depending on your sleeping position. Together with the softer comfort layers, the pocket springs produce a medium mattress.
Neither of the mattress's foam layers is very resilient, or bouncy. The memory foam transition layer has very low resilience, which is expected of this soft, slow-moving material. It helps to relieve pressure and provide a smooth transition to the support layer beneath. The polyfoam comfort layer is more resilient, adding a bit of bounciness to the mattress overall, though it's still not as resilient as typical polyfoam.
The pocket spring support layer is somewhat bouncy. Compared to other hybrids, the springs don't 'push back' very much when compressed, but they are still springy enough to produce a moderately bouncy mattress overall.

I can’t believe this review is as positive as it is! I just got one as a birthday present, and mine is nothing like this review is making it out to be. The blade is so weak that it could NOT crush my frozen fruits without blinking orange at least 3 times in one single session. 9 times out of 10, I would have to stick a chopstick down there to move the content around before I can re-blend (repeat this about 3 -5 times per session). And while blending fresh fruits doesn’t have the same orange blinking weak blade problem, the design of the blade is done in such a way that it has a hard time pulling the uncut content from the top and bringing it down towards the blade; which means I’d have to stick a spoon or something in there to manually shove the uncut fruits at the top down towards the blade…which seems a bit dangerous and a lawsuit waiting to happen, not to mentioned that this process could get messy because one time it burped while I was doing this and some of the content flew out all over my clothes. It was as if this company put out this product without testing it. Looking cute and compact is really the only positive thing about this blender. So unless you have too much free space on your shelf and needing some cute piece of electronic to take up that space, do not waste your money on this piece of junk!

Hi cisforchau,
Thank you for your feedback. Apologies to hear that your experience with your Ninja Blast isn’t the best. This model scored really poorly in most of the tests we did, and only did a somewhat okay job in the fibrous smoothie section of our review. Was there something specific that made it feel like it was positive? I can relay the feedback to our content team to make sure we can edit this review and any future reviews to better reflect our experience.
Thanks again for your feedback as it makes us improve our future reviews!
We’ve just released a new video that mentions the Ninja Blast here.
