The LG LA6200 LED TV is only a small improvement over lower-end models. If you want to save money and can live without 3D, you are better off with either the LN5700 or LN5400 (depending on whether you need smart TV functionalities).

Our Verdict

Mixed Usage

While it does perform better than the cheaper LG models, the LG LA6200 LED TV still has issues in a dark room, its blacks appearing more gray. It performs well when the lights are turned on, though, and it has a fairly wide viewing angle for an LED TV.

Pros
  • Very low input lag. This is great for gaming.
  • Very good viewing angle. The colors appears the same way whether you sit in front of it or at an angle.
Cons
  • Low contrast. In a dark room, the blacks are gray.
  • Average amount of motion blur.

    How We Test TVs
    How We Test TVs

We buy and test dozens of TVs yearly, taking an objective, data-driven approach to deliver results you can trust. Our testing process is complex, with hundreds of individual tests that take over a week to complete. Most of our tests are done with specially designed test patterns that mimic real content, but we also use the same sources you have at home to ensure our results match the real-world experience. We use two main tools for our testing: a Colorimetry Research CR-100 colorimeter and a CR-250 spectroradiometer.

The LA6200 has slightly deeper blacks than the lower-end models, but they still look more like gray when viewed in a dim environment. If you plan on using your TV in a dark room, go for the Samsung FH6030 instead.

    Viewing angle

The main reason to buy the LA6200 is for its really good viewing angle (50% contrast @ 40°). Several viewers spread around a room can watch without experiencing reduced picture quality.
