    The shoe uses very narrow round laces rather than the flat laces commonly found on most shoes. They have little stretch and use minimal material, helping reduce weight while maintaining a secure lockdown.

    Popular Running Shoe Comparisons

    The Kiprun Kipstorm Lab is the brand's top racing shoe, built for runners chasing fast times from 5K to the marathon. Any racing shoe that tries to cover such a broad range has to make some compromises. The Kipstorm Lab has great cushioning, which helps for longer races, but it isn't very snappy, which holds it back in shorter races.     adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 2

    The adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 2 and Kiprun Kipstorm Lab are aggressive racing shoes with similarly pronounced forefoot rockers, best suited to efficient runners. The adidas is the better shoe overall for racing: it's lighter, more cushioned, and more energetic. However, its very limited lifespan makes it practical only for elite runners chasing serious times. The Kiprun gives up some raw performance but remains highly competitive. It's also more durable, making it the more sensible choice for most runners.

    Kiprun Kipstorm Elite

    The Kiprun Kipstorm Elite and Kiprun Kipstorm Lab are carbon-plated racing shoes from the same lineup, but the Lab is the more experimental model. Its main advantage is weight: it delivers similar cushioning and responsiveness in a much lighter package, making it slightly more efficient across race distances. Get the Lab only if you’re chasing the last few percent of performance gains. The Elite offers nearly the same racing ability for less money and has an even bouncier, more energetic ride, making it the better choice for most runners.

    ASICS METASPEED RAY

    The ASICS METASPEED RAY and Kiprun Kipstorm Lab are soft, forefoot-plated racing shoes built for very fast runners. The ASICS is the better shoe overall, with lower weight, better cushioning, and more energy return for runners looking to maximize race-day performance. Both are unstable, but the Kiprun feels slightly more controlled and has a more rocker-driven ride, so get it if you prefer a ride that's not quite as extreme.

    Differences Between Sizes And Variants

    We bought and tested the Kiprun Kipstorm Lab in men's US size 9, and here's the label for our pair. The pair we purchased is the Light Neon Pink colorway, although we vastly prefer its French name, Rose Bubblegum Fluo, which sounds less like a paint sample and more like a nightclub in Saint-Tropez. This shoe isn't available in wide widths. The design section applies only to the exact model we tested, but we expect other size and gender variants to perform similarly.
