7.9Average Weight
-
8.6Heavy Weight
The SweetNight CoolNest Ultra is best-suited for average-weight and heavier side sleepers. Average-weight will sink in enough for sufficient pressure relief when side sleeping, and the mattress has an even more enveloping feel for heavier individuals. Its decent support performance ensures your hips don't sink in overly far, so your spine stays aligned. However, it's much less conforming for lighter people. If you're in that weight category, you won't sink in enough, and it'll put a lot of pressure on your arm and shoulder.
Average-weight side sleepers sink in enough for comfortable side sleeping.
Heavier individuals sink deeply into the mattress and get fantastic pressure relief.
Lighter side sleepers won't sink in enough and feel uncomfortable pressure.

The SweetNight CoolNest Ultra is a satisfactory option for most back sleepers. It offers decent support for most people, so your hips won't sink in overly far and your spine stays quite aligned when sleeping on your back/stomach. The contouring, enveloping sleeping surface helps cushion pressure points like your back and shoulders. However, if you always sleep on your back, you may find a more supportive mattress more comfortable.
Satisfactory support for most people, so your spine stays mostly aligned.
You may want more support if you always sleep on your back.

The SweetNight CoolNest Ultra is a satisfactory option for stomach sleepers in any weight category. It offers decent support regardless of your weight, which helps keep your spine aligned and prevents your back from arching significantly. However, if you spend most of the night stomach sleeping, you may prefer a mattress with even better support.
Satisfactory support for most people, so your spine stays mostly aligned.
You may want more support if you always sleep on your stomach.

Test Results
Firmness
The SweetNight CoolNest Ultra is an all-foam mattress with memory foam comfort layers that let you sink in, creating an enveloping feel, especially for average-weight and heavier people who will compress the mattress more. Firmer transition and support layers help support your hips and create a Medium firmness overall.
This Medium mattress performs best for average-weight and heavier side sleepers, who will sink into it enough for proper pressure relief. It's also decently supportive, so it's a good option for combination sleepers, but less ideal for dedicated back or stomach sleepers, who may need even better support. It's also not a good option for lighter side sleepers, since it's not conforming enough for people in that weight category and will put pressure on your arm and shoulder.
This mattress's 2.5 cm (1.0 inch) upper comfort layer is made of memory foam infused with gel beads and phase change materials meant to help the foam conduct heat away from your body. The thin 1.0 cm (0.4 inches) lower comfort layer is made of 'Air Mesh', which, according to SweetNight, has a porous, 'mesh-inspired' design meant to improve air circulation. The 6.5 cm (2.6 inch) transition layer is made of gel-infused polyfoam with perforations for air flow. Most people will fully compress both comfort layers and also sink a little into the layer below, which creates an enveloping, contouring feel typical of memory foam. The firmer 28.0 cm (11.0 inches) support layer is made of polyfoam and has a scalloped shape meant to create zoning and help keep your spine aligned.
Longevity
The SweetNight CoolNest Ultra is reasonably durable. The memory foam upper comfort layers and polyfoam support layer are made of dense, good-quality foam, which helps prevent impressions and sagging. The transition layer is a weak point, however, as it's made of less dense foam and is more likely to form permanent impressions.
Good-quality comfort layers will resist forming indentations and impressions.
Transition layer is made of lower-quality foam and may show signs of wear sooner.
The comfort layers are made of good-quality memory foam, which will help the mattress resist forming permanent indentations for longer. The support layer is made of good-quality polyfoam, which helps prevent sagging. The transition layer, however, is made of lower-quality foam, so it's a weak point in terms of durability.
This mattress's upper comfort layer is made of gel-infused memory foam that has a responsive feel, unlike regular memory foam. The gel beads are made of phase-change material meant to help the foam conduct heat away from your body. The thin lower comfort layer is made of 'Air Mesh', which, according to SweetNight, has a porous, 'mesh-inspired' design meant to improve air circulation. The transition layer is made of gel-infused polyfoam with perforations for air flow. The support layer is made of polyfoam and has a scalloped shape meant to create zoning and promote spinal alignment.
Pressure Relief
The SweetNight CoolNest Ultra provides great pressure relief for average-weight and heavier individuals but doesn't perform as well for lighter people. It has enveloping comfort layers that conform around your arm and shoulder if you're average-weight or heavier, making it a comfortable option for side sleeping. However, lighter people won't sink in as much. The highly contouring sleeping surface helps cushion your hips and shoulders when you sleep on your back or stomach, but isn't conforming enough for comfortable side sleeping if you're lighter.
Average-weight side sleepers sink in enough for comfortable side sleeping.
Heavier individuals sink deeply into the mattress and get fantastic pressure relief.
Highly contouring sleeping surface helps add pressure relief.
Lighter side sleepers won't sink in enough and feel uncomfortable pressure.
Support
The SweetNight Coolnest Ultra is decently supportive. Its support performance is quite consistent, so regardless of your weight, it'll prevent your hips from sinking in overly far and keep your spine mostly aligned. This makes it well-suited for combination and side sleepers, and a satisfactory choice for most back and stomach sleepers. However, if you always sleep on your back or stomach, even better support would be ideal.
Satisfactory support for most people, so your spine stays mostly aligned.
You may want more support if you always sleep on your back or stomach.
This mattress offers decent support for most people, so whatever weight category you're in, it'll keep your spine quite aligned and is a suitable option for back/stomach sleeping. While it has a satisfactory performance, you might be more comfortable on a more supportive mattress if you always sleep on your back or stomach.
Cooling
The SweetNight CoolNest Ultra has very good cooling. It performs particularly well when you first get into bed, making it suitable for people who usually feel overheated as they're falling asleep. It's cooling over eight hours isn't quite as efficient. It'll keep most people comfortable, but if you often wake up later in the night feeling overheated, it's not ideal.
Has a cool feel when you first get into bed.
Cools efficiently enough for most people overnight.
Hot sleepers may want better cooling over eight hours.
It has very good cooling. Its performance is particularly good during the first hour you're in bed, which makes it a good option if you often have difficult falling asleep because of the heat. It's slightly less cooling over eight hours, and while it'll keep most people comfortable, it's not ideal if you often wake up later in the night feeling overheated.
Note: The behavior of our testing equipment is causing the Cumulative Energy Transfer line on the graph to have a smoother appearance at the four-hour mark, while most other mattresses' graphs have a stepped appearance, including the SweetNight CoolNest Pro and SweetNight CoolNest. With some mattresses, our PID controller adjusts its output when the mattress is saturated in heat. This results in a different power output during the last four hours of the cooling test, causing the smoother appearance of the graph and making the results over eight hours incomparable with other mattresses where the PID controller didn't adjust its output.
However, it's worth noting that this mattress's cumulative energy transfer is also lower (so its cooling is worse) during the first four hours of the test compared to other SweetNight models, despite being advertised as a more cooling mattress. We're currently investigating how aspects of our testing methodology, such as mattress compression, may be affecting the cooling results for this mattress, and we'll update the review in the future.
Motion Dissipation
The SweetNight CoolNest Ultra offers excellent motion dissipation. Owing to this mattress' all-foam design and memory foam layers, its comfort layers help dampen movement. You'll feel some bigger movements, like someone getting into bed, but only near the source, not all over the mattress. Motion also dissipates quickly instead of making the mattress bounce for a moment, making your partner's movements less likely to wake you.
You won't notice smaller movements.
Bigger movements are mostly felt near the source and dissipate quickly, so they aren't as noticeable.
This mattress has excellent motion dissipation. It does a great job of dampening movement, so your partner's smaller movements are noticeable. Bigger movements are mostly felt near the source instead of all over the mattress, and they dissipate very quickly, so you'll feel a brief shock, but the mattress doesn't wobble or bounce with movement.
Responsiveness
As expected for an all-foam mattress with lots of memory foam, the SweetNight CoolNest Ultra isn't a responsive mattress. The memory foam layers mold around you and adapt slowly when you move. Because of its all-foam design, it's also not very bouncy, which makes changing sleeping positions feel more difficult. You might like its hugging, memory foam feel, or find it constricting, especially if you're a combination sleeper who frequently changes sleeping positions.
Sleeping surface adapts slowly when you move, which makes it feel harder to move around on.
Lack of bounce makes changing sleeping positions feel more difficult.
The sleeping surface responds slowly, which gives it a hugging feel, but may also make you feel constricted or stuck in place. Lower-end options from SweetNight, including the SweetNight CoolNest Pro and SweetNight CoolNest, are more responsive, likely because they lack the Ultra's slow-moving memory foam lower comfort layer.
This all-foam mattress lacks a spring layer and includes a lot of low-resilience foam, so it's not bouncy. This makes changing sleeping positions feel more effortful.
Most of the foam layers have low resilience and an unbouncy feel. Although the upper comfort layer is a made of gel-infused memory foam, it's only slightly more resilient than regular memory foam. The thin lower comfort layer and transition layer are even slower-moving and give the mattress its slow-moving feel. The polyfoam support layer is much bouncier.
Edge Support
The SweetNight CoolNest Ultra has decent edge support overall despite lacking a reinforced edge construction. As a result, the sides compress quite evenly without forming a steep ramp, which increases the amount of usable space on the mattress when you sleep on the side of the bed. However, without extra support for the sides of the mattress, they sink significantly under pressure. This isn't ideal for seniors or anyone with mobility concerns who needs a sturdy surface for getting in and out of bed.
Edges compress evenly instead of forming a slope.
Edges compress easily when you sit or sleep near the side.
Popular Mattress Comparisons
The SweetNight CoolNest Ultra is a Medium all-foam mattress. Unlike SweetNight's lower-end memory foam mattresses, it has a slow-moving, hugging memory foam feel that you might find cozy or constricting, depending on your preferences. It has a firmer Medium feel and stands out for its decent support regardless of your weight, which makes it a good option for couples with different needs and combination sleepers who spend part of the night back or stomach sleeping. However, despite being marketed as a more cooling option, its cooling is very good, but not great, and it's not ideal if sleeping hot is an issue for you. The mattress offers excellent motion dissipation, so your partner's movements won't be very noticeable, but if you sleep very lightly, other all-foam models like the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Adapt or Silk & Snow Mattress are even better at isolating and dampening movements.

The Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Adapt and the SweetNight CoolNest Ultra have different strengths. The SweetNight offers better support for heavier people, making it more suitable for combination and back/stomach sleepers in that category. It also offers better edge support, so sleeping or sitting on the side of the bed is more comfortable. Both mattresses have low responsiveness and a hugging feel, but it's more pronounced with the Tempur-Pedic. The Tempur-Pedic also offers better motion dissipation, so you might prefer it if you sleep lightly.
The SweetNight CoolNest and SweetNight CoolNest Ultra have different strengths. The CoolNest is a Medium-Plush mattress that you'll sink further into, so it offers better pressure relief for side sleepers. It's much more responsive and feels easier to move around on. The Ultra is a firmer Medium mattress. It doesn't offer quite as much pressure relief for side sleepers, but it's more supportive and a better option for combination or back/stomach sleeping. Its better motion isolation and edge support makes it better for couples, and it has a more durable design.
You might prefer either the Silk & Snow Mattress or the SweetNight CoolNest Ultra. The Silk & Snow is a better option overall for lighter people, since it offers better support and better pressure relief for people in that weight category. It has better motion dissipation, so your partner's movements won't be as noticeable, and it's more responsive, so it feels easier to move around on. You might prefer the SweetNight if you like hugging, slow-moving memory foam. It's more supportive for heavier individuals and has sturdier edge support.
The SweetNight CoolNest Pro and SweetNight CoolNest Ultra perform quite similarly, and you may prefer either. Both are best-suited for average and heavier side sleepers, but the Pro is more responsive and feels easier to move around on. The pricier Ultra has a firmer feel and better support, making it a better option for some combination sleepers. It has significantly better edge support. You may also prefer it if you like slow-moving, hugging memory foam.
