In 2026, the next evolution of that technology has arrived: RGB Mini LED. This latest iteration in LED technology replaces single LEDs with separate red, green, and blue light-producing diodes. The goal of this technology is to improve color volume and efficiency by only producing the light components needed for each part of the screen. So if what you're watching is mainly red, why waste energy producing blue and green light just to block it all out with color filters? This slightly lower-end model still delivers incredible picture quality, with incredible peak brightness that brings your favorite movies and shows to life. It's not quite as bright as the higher-end model, but it's still good enough that you'd have a hard time even noticing the difference with most real content. Its RGB Mini LED backlight isn't quite as advanced as the more expensive model, and you'll see this in the form of slightly more haloing around bright highlights. It still delivers brighter, more vibrant colors than competing models that use traditional backlight systems.
The real downside to this model is its screen coating, which isn't nearly as good at cutting out reflections, making it slightly less versatile, as it doesn't perform quite as well in a bright room. On the feature side, you're really not losing anything, as it comes with the exact same selection of both smart and gaming features. It's still not a great choice for more serious gamers, but it's fine for casual gaming or couch co-op. It's also not a perfect choice for a wide seating area, but none of the currently available RGB Mini LED models are.
