The Nectar Premier Copper is a foam bed-in-a-box mattress available at a budget-friendly price on the Canadian market. Its support and transition layers are made of polyfoam, and its comfort layer is gel-infused memory foam with ActiveCool HD, a 'phase change material' meant to keep you cool by absorbing and releasing heat as it changes states. The foams are CertiPUR-US certified, meaning they emit low levels of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and are made without formaldehyde, heavy metals, and other harmful substances.
As a medium-plush mattress, it's ideal for side sleepers and can also work for lighter back and stomach sleepers. Heavier and even average-sized back and stomach sleepers, however, will probably want a firmer, more supportive mattress to keep the spine aligned. This mattress has very little bounce, which can give the mattress a static feeling and make it harder to move around in your sleep. However, it's very responsive, meaning it adapts quickly to your movements, so it doesn't feel constricting. It offers moderate sinking and contouring, so you feel cushioned and hugged, but not engulfed or overly restricted.
Our Verdict
The Nectar Premier Copper mattress provides a great sleeping experience. It's remarkably responsive, especially for a foam mattress, since they tend to respond more slowly than other types. This makes it easy to change sleeping positions, so you never feel stuck or restricted. At the same time, it's still excellent at limiting motion transfer. You only feel bigger shifts nearby, and they dissipate quickly, so movement isn't likely to wake you. This mattress has great edge support, too. You can sleep next to the sides without feeling like you might slip off. One downside is that it's not cooling enough for hot sleepers, but it still transfers a decent amount of heat away from you, so while it's not noticeably cooling, it maintains a pretty neutral temperature.
Impressive edge support extends the comfortable sleeping surface.
Excellent motion isolation means movement is less likely to disturb you.
Fantastic responsiveness makes it easy to move around as you sleep.
Ideal for side sleepers and a good choice for lighter back and stomach sleepers as well.
Not cooling enough for hot sleepers.
Too soft for average-sized and heavier back and stomach sleepers.
Uses low-quality memory foam, which is likely to degrade faster.
The Nectar Premier Copper mattress is decent at cooling. It transfers a fair amount of heat away from you as you fall asleep, and just a little less throughout the rest of the night. If you tend to feel chilly at night or if cooling simply isn't a priority for you, its performance in this regard should suffice. If you're a hot sleeper, however, this mattress won't be cooling enough.
Not cooling enough for hot sleepers.
The Nectar Premier Copper mattress has excellent motion dissipation. Its all-foam design absorbs a lot of motion, so it's an ideal option for light sleepers and sleeping with a partner. You only feel larger movements, and even then, they don't travel throughout the mattress or leave you wobbling around after the fact, since the motion dissipates very quickly. Even if you're partner tosses and turns or a pet jumps on the bed late at night, it's not likely to disturb you.
Excellent motion isolation means movement is less likely to disturb you.
The Nectar Premier Copper mattress has great edge support. When you sit or sleep near the sides, they only compress a little bit more than the rest of the mattress. You stay level instead of feeling like you're on an incline that could cause you to slip off, so you can comfortably use more of the mattress's surface.
Impressive edge support extends the comfortable sleeping surface.
The Nectar Premier Copper mattress is exceptionally responsive. It bounces back very quickly when you compress it, adapting to each move you make, so you feel supported when you toss and turn or change sleeping positions.
Fantastic responsiveness makes it easy to move around as you sleep.

Differences Between Sizes And Variants
The Nectar Premier Copper memory foam mattress is part of the manufacturer's Canadian mattress line and comes in Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, and King sizes. It comes in one firmness level, a 6.5/10 on Nectar's scale. We tested a Queen-sized model, and our results are only valid for that variant. See our unit's label.
If you have experience with this or another variant, we invite you to leave your feedback in the comments.
Popular Mattress Comparisons
The Nectar Premier Copper is a memory foam mattress with a medium-plush feel. Compared to other memory foam mattresses, it's extremely responsive, adapting to your movements much more quickly than options like the Nectar Classic. At the same time, it's even less bouncy than most other all-foam options. The Zinus Original Green Tea, for example, isn't a bouncy mattress, but it's significantly bouncier than the Nectar. This lack of bounce can give the mattress a lifeless or static feeling, but it's somewhat offset by the high responsiveness, which makes it easier to move around as you sleep. This mattress has great edge support, too. Like the Puffy Lux (Canadian Version), there's nothing extra built into the edges for support, but you can still sleep right next to the edge without feeling like you're going to roll off. While it's cooling enough for most people, hot sleepers will want a more efficient option, like the Purple Mattress. That said, if cooling isn't your top priority, it's a great option at a budget-friendly price.

The Nectar Premier Copper and the Novaform ComfortGrande Plus are fairly well-matched foam mattresses. You may prefer either, depending on what's most important to you. The medium-plush Nectar has better responsiveness and edge support, making it easier to move around and get in and out of bed. The medium-firm Novaform, on the other hand, provides better motion isolation and keeps you cooler, so it's a better choice if cooling is a priority for you or if you're a light sleeper.
The Nectar Premier Copper is a better option than the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Adapt for most people. Both mattresses are all-foam options with very little bounce, but the Nectar is much more responsive, so it's easier to shift sleeping positions and doesn't make you feel constrained or stuck. The Nectar also has better edge support, so it's easier to get in and out of bed. That said, the Temper-Pedic keeps you cooler, though it's also not quite cooling enough for hot sleepers. It has better motion isolation as well, so if you're a very light sleeper, you may prefer it.
The Nectar Premier Copper is a better mattress than the Nectar Classic. Like most foam mattresses, both options provide great motion isolation, but the medium-plush Premier Copper outperforms the medium-firm Classic pretty significantly in every other area. Its biggest advantage is in responsiveness. The Premier Copper responds very quickly when you compress it, so it's much easier to move around and change sleeping positions. It has better edge support, too, so you don't feel like you might slip off the side, unlike with the Classic.
The Nectar Premier Copper and the Nectar Classic Hybrid are pretty evenly matched, and while the Premier Copper has a slight edge overall, they both have their strengths. Despite its medium-plush feel and all-foam construction, the Premier Copper has better edge support and responsiveness than the medium-firm Classic Hybrid, which has a pretty bouncy spring layer. The Classic Hybrid is more cooling, however, so it's a better fit for hot sleepers. Ultimately, your choice will probably depend on your priorities and whether you prefer a foam or hybrid model.

We've recently started testing mattresses. We use objective data and repeatable testing for key characteristics like firmness, cooling, and motion isolation, to ensure each mattress gets the same treatment. Since we buy all of our mattresses, we can tear them down layer by layer and isolate the mechanical properties of every component: quilted tops, foams, coils, and any special materials. Our approach gives us unprecedented insight into how each product design decision contributes to a mattress's overall performance and feel, and allows us to tailor our results to different body types and sleeping positions.
Test Results

The Nectar Premier Copper mattress is medium-plush, making it an ideal fit for side sleepers and lighter back and stomach sleepers. Average-sized and heavier back and stomach sleepers will sink too deeply into the mattress for comfort and require a firmer mattress to keep the spine in a straight line.
The Nectar Premier Copper isn't bouncy, even compared with other memory foam mattresses. The 3.9" (10 cm) memory foam comfort layer absorbs a lot of motion, making the mattress feel somewhat lifeless and making it a bit harder to move around or change sleeping positions. If you're looking for a springier mattress, you may prefer a hybrid or latex model.
The Nectar Premier Copper provides moderate sinking and contouring, giving it a balanced feel. You'll likely sink about halfway into the memory foam comfort layer, which closely contours your body. This combination helps with pressure relief and leaves you feeling cradled and gently squeezed or hugged, but not trapped or like your movements are restricted.
It's incredibly responsive. Despite its all-foam construction and the memory foam in the upper comfort layer (which is typically a slow-moving material), this mattress recovers very quickly after you compress it. This allows the mattress to adapt to your movements, making it easy and comfortable to move around or change sleeping positions.
The Nectar Premier Copper has excellent motion isolation, which is common for foam and especially memory foam mattresses, since the material tends to dampen movement. You still feel it when larger shifts happen nearby, but most of the motion is isolated, so very little travels throughout the mattress, and it dissipates very quickly. For instance, if you sleep with a partner, you feel it in the lumbar when they roll over, but you don't notice much motion at the head or foot of the bed, and it only lasts for a split second, so it's not likely to disturb or wake you. Of course, some memory foam mattresses have even better motion isolation, like the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Adapt.
This mattress has excellent edge support, especially considering there's no additional edge component built in. When you sit or sleep on the edges, they compress only slightly more than the center, so you don't feel like you could roll off when sleeping close by. This leaves you more room to sleep comfortably and makes it a bit easier to get in and out of bed, particularly for people with mobility issues.
The Nectar Premier Copper does a decent job of keeping you cool. It's not cooling enough for hot sleepers, but it should maintain a fairly neutral temperature for most people. Its performance is a little better during the first hour of the night, but it still transfers a reasonable amount of heat away from you throughout the remainder of an eight-hour sleep. In general, you're not likely to feel boiling hot on this mattress unless you sleep hot already, but it's not noticeably cooling either. If you're a hot sleeper, you probably need a mattress with better cooling, like the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid.
The cover consists of 67% polyester, 20% nylon, 7% polyethylene, and 6% copper-infused polyester, which the manufacturer markets as a cooling fabric. It does have a zipper, but the tag states that it's not to be removed.
Although there's no additional edge component built in, this all-foam mattress still has impressive edge support.
This all-foam mattress has three layers. The upper comfort layer is made of soft gel-infused memory foam with ActiveCool HD, a phase change material that absorbs and releases heat as it changes states in order to keep you cool. This type of memory foam provides pressure relief and contouring to comfortably cushion you while still maintaining some resilience, which makes it easier to move around and shift sleeping positions. The transition and support layers are both made of polyfoam, so they're firmer and more resilient. These layers work together to provide gradual support to the heavier parts of your body and keep your spine in a straight line.
The Nectar Premier Copper uses a combination of less dense, low-quality foam and dense, good-quality foam. The memory foam upper comfort layer is the weak point in the mattress. It's not dense enough to be considered good quality and is likely to degrade faster than higher-quality foams, creating premature indentations, especially since this is the layer you engage with the most. The polyfoam transition and support layers are good, but not high-quality, so they'll resist sagging and indentations longer than the memory foam layer, but not as long as denser foams.
The upper comfort layer is 3.9" (10 cm) of soft gel-infused memory foam. Most people will only sink partway into this thick layer and won't directly interact with the firmer layers below, resulting in a plush, moderately contouring feel. The 2.8" (7 cm) polyfoam transition layer is thick enough to provide a gradual shift into the firmer support layer, which is 6.9" (17.5 cm) thick. This bottom layer provides a sturdy base to ensure you're properly supported and never sink far enough to 'bottom out.'
Starting from the top, the foam layers become progressively firmer towards the support layer. The memory foam upper comfort layer is the softest, providing pressure relief and cushioning. Below that, the polyfoam transition layer is medium-soft and helps to contour and gently support the recessed parts of your body that don't sink into the bottom layer. The polyfoam support layer is medium-firm, supporting the heaviest parts of your body, like the hips and shoulders for side sleepers or the lumbar for back sleepers. Overall, this combination of foam layers produces a medium-plush mattress.
While the upper comfort layer has the least resilience, or bounce, it's actually very resilient compared to most memory foam. The manufacturer says that it's gel-infused memory foam, which likely explains this result and makes the mattress's surface easier to move around on. The polyfoam transition and support layers below are even more resilient, pushing back when compressed. That said, this is an all-foam mattress without a springy coil layer, so it still offers very little bounce overall.
