Vizio E Series 1080p 2016 LED TV Calibration Settings

For additional settings information, please consult the Common Problems and How to Calibrate pages.

These are the calibration settings that we used for our review of the Vizio E Series 1080p 2016. These settings will work well for everything except for video games. For video games, use the 'Game' picture mode with 'Game Low Latency' turned on so you can get the lowest input lag, and copy the following settings.

Start by choosing the 'Calibrated Dark' picture mode. If you are in a bright room, or find our settings too dark, increase 'Backlight' as much as you want. It won't change the colors. Don't touch 'Brightness'. For 'Sharpness', leave it at 0 for 1080p to prevent any over-sharpening. For lower-quality content, like DVDs or SD channels, you may want to increase it a little. If you find the picture a bit too yellow and dull, change 'Color Temperature' to something colder.

Leave the  'Active LED Zones' off. The size of the dimming zone are so big and do not work really good enough that we felt it was better to leave them off.

If you see too many artifacts or too much noise, enable the noise reduction features. Keep in mind that these soften the picture, so don't turn them on for high-quality content. Set the gamma to 2.2 since it is closest to our calibration goal.

Note: Usually we post the setting for the color calibration, but we had some issues with the SmartCast App, meant the changes to the white balance and color space were not visible on the app. This made calibration very difficult, but since the pre-calibration result was very good this was not an issue for this specific TV.
