Differences Between Sizes And Variants

The Endgame Gear XM2w 4k is available in four different colorways, Black, White, Black Frost, and White Frost. For more details on how the surface coatings differ for these colorways, see the Build Quality section. We bought and tested the Black Frost color. See an image of our unit's label.

Compared To Other Mice

The Endgame Gear XM2w 4k is a wireless gaming mouse. It's part of Endgame Gear's wider XM2 line-up of mice which all share the same medium-size symmetrical shape with a fairly wide and supportive rearward hump. This mouse is positioned as a wireless alternative to the wired Endgame Gear XM2 8k and a higher-performance alternative to the more budget-oriented Endgame Gear XM2we. Compared directly to the XM2we, it has a newer sensor, support for higher polling rates, and unique SDPT switches.

Competing in a crowded price segment, the XM2w 4k goes up against similarly shaped and slightly less expensive mice like the Scyrox V8, the Ninjutso Sora V2, or slightly smaller alternatives like the LAMZU Atlantis Mini 4K. While its relatively heavier weight and lower 4k polling rate may seem less compelling than some of its lighter 8k-capable rivals, its standout feature is its SDPT switches. These switches provide significant latency advantages over conventional mechanical or optical switches found on other gaming mice. Combined with excellent build quality and lightweight executable software, the XM2w 4k offers a unique high-performance competitive option worth considering, especially if you favor a claw grip.

For more recommendations, see our picks for the best gaming mice, the best wireless gaming mice, and the best claw grip mouse.

Endgame Gear XM2we

The Endgame Gear XM2we is a more budget-friendly model in the same lineup as the Endgame Gear XM2w 4k. Altogether, the Endgame Gear XM2w 4k is better suited for more competitive gamers. Both are wireless mice that share the same shape, but the XM2we doesn't quite match the raw gaming performance of the XM2w 4k. The XM2w 4k has a newer sensor, supports a higher polling rate, and uses unique SPDT switches which provide exceptionally low click latency.

Endgame Gear XM2 8k

The Endgame Gear XM2w 4k and the Endgame Gear XM2 8k are models in the same lineup that share the same shape. Both mice are exceptionally good competitive gaming picks so choosing between them largely comes down to your preference for wireless versatility. The XM2w 4k has wireless connectivity while the XM2 8k is a wired-only model. That said, the XM2 8k also supports a higher polling rate of 8000Hz, providing slightly better and more consistent raw gaming performance.

Scyrox V8

The Endgame Gear XM2w 4k and the Scyrox V8 are wireless gaming mice with similar symmetrical shapes that have a wide rearward hump. Both provide remarkably good raw performance for competitive gaming, but the Scyrox is a better choice if you have a strong preference for lightweight mice. Comparatively, the Endgame Gear has unique SPDT switches that can achieve slightly lower and more consistent click latency. While the margin is very slight and never something you'll notice in-game, the Endgame Gear may be the better choice if you value getting the lowest possible click latency performance possible.

Ninjutso Sora V2

The Ninjutso Sora V2 and the Endgame Gear XM2w 4K are wireless gaming mice with similar symmetrical shapes and wide, supportive rearward humps. The Ninjutso is noticeably lighter and offers slightly better sensor performance, supporting a higher polling rate—though only with a separate dongle. In contrast, the XM2w 4K features unique SPDT switches with hardware debounce, delivering lower and more consistent click latency. Both mice provide top-tier raw performance for competitive gaming. While the Ninjutso has measurably better sensor latency and the XM2w 4K better click latency, the differences are imperceptible in-game. If you prefer a lighter mouse, the Ninjutso may be the better choice.

Its solid plastic body feels very sturdy, with no loose or wobbling parts. There are no rattling sounds when you shake the mouse, and all segments have tight seams without any gaps. The main clicks, side buttons, and middle clicks are well-tensioned and have satisfying tactility. That said, the body exhibits minor flexing and emits some creaking noise if you apply considerable pressure.

This mouse has several different colorways available with differing coatings depending on the version you buy. We bought and tested the Black Frost color variant. The Black Frost and White Frost variants have translucent bodies, and the coating has a slightly rubbery soft-touch feel.

The Black and White colorways have a matte opaque body, and the finish is slightly chalky. Endgame Gear describes this coating as similar to a smooth, dry stone.

Endgame Gear also notes that both the White and White Frost colorway versions have an additional UV coating designed to keep the mouse from yellowing over time.

The Endgame Gear XM2w 4k shares the same shape as other models in the XM2 and XM1 series, including the Endgame Gear XM2we and the previous generation Endgame Gear XM1r. It's medium-sized and symmetrical, with a centered hump that's closer to the rear of the mouse. The shape narrows slightly in the middle and has a fairly wide back end designed to fill out your palm. This shape is especially well-suited to support a claw grip for most hand sizes. That said, the overall size of the mouse and its width towards the back can make it unwieldy to hold if you have very small hands.

The Endgame Gear XM2w 4k has a battery capacity of 335 mAh. This is slightly less than the 410 mAh battery in the Endgame Gear XM2we, advertised to provide up to a week of usage between recharges.

Endgame Gear provides a maximum battery estimate of seven days with this mouse as well, but we expect this estimate is only achievable if you're using a 1000Hz polling rate.

Given its battery capacity and reports from the community, we expect you may need to recharge this mouse as often as every few days when using the 4000Hz setting, though it depends on your usage.

Kailh GX

The Endgame Gear XM2w 4k uses Kailh GX SPDT (single-pole double-throw) switches with top and bottom contacts. These switches are designed to provide exceptionally low latency while limiting potential double-clicking.

Using the configuration software, you can toggle SPDT switch modes between GX Speed, GX Safe, and OFF.

GX Speed: This mode provides the lowest possible click latency performance. Its click detection starts when the contact plate separates away from the top contact, whereas with the SPDT setting OFF (and with most other mechanical switches), the click detection starts when the contact plate hits the bottom contact.

GX Safe: This mode is just as fast as the OFF setting but adds extra hardware debounce to guard against potential double-clicking events. For reference, you can read a description and see a visual illustration from Endgame Gear's public Discord channel.

The software is lightweight and easy to use. It's a simple executable file available on Endgame Gear's website. It doesn't require installation, and you can save all settings to the onboard memory, so you don't need to keep it running in the background. It allows you to adjust a range of expected settings, including polling rate, sleep settings, lift-off distance, ripple control, and angle snapping.

You can also change the SPDT settings related to the behavior of the main buttons. For more details about these settings, see the Main Button section.

Additional software options include:

Motion Sync: This setting attempts to synchronize sensor data with USB polling events. It can make on-screen motion feel more consistent, though it typically adds a small amount of latency (up to around 1 ms).

Motion Jitter Filter: This setting can help smooth out cursor movements if you use very high CPI settings (above 6000 CPI).

Slamclick Filter: This setting adds a slight debounce delay when you lift your mouse, helping to prevent slamclicks. (Slamclicks are unintended clicks that can occur when placing the mouse back on the pad with too much force.) It's especially useful if you frequently lift and reposition your mouse during gameplay.
