The TP-Link Deco BE25 is a dual-band Wi-Fi 7 mesh router with 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. It's designed for use in a mesh system and is available in packs of one, two, or three units. Each unit has two 2.5Gbps networking ports that automatically detect whether a LAN or WAN connection is plugged in. It's very small in size and features a minimalist design. Like the rest of TP-Link's Deco lineup, you can set up and manage your network using the Deco app, and it's compatible with Amazon Alexa-enabled devices for voice control.

Note: We've removed the Wi-Fi coverage tests and are exploring better ways to convey the results that'll be more helpful to users.

Our Verdict

7.9
Apartment/Condo

The TP-Link Deco BE25 is a very good router for apartments and small homes. It's very small and has a minimalist design that makes it easy to find a place for it in your house. It's also painless to set up with TP-Link's easy-to-use Deco mobile app, though some features, like advanced parental controls, are locked behind a subscription paywall. Performance-wise, this router delivers great speeds for most uses, like downloading large files quickly and multiple devices streaming 4k video simultaneously. Its range is suitable for smaller homes, and you can always add more access points if you need to improve your coverage. Unfortunately, it's let down by its lack of support for the 6GHz band, where the majority of Wi-Fi 7 performance gains lie.

Pros
  • Great wireless speeds.

  • Small and minimalist design.

  • 2.5Gbps networking ports.

Cons
  • Lacks a 6GHz band.

7.5
Multi-Level House

The TP-Link Deco BE25 is a good router if you live in a multi-story house. It's small and has a minimalist design that makes it easy to place in your home. It's also easy to configure your network using the Deco app; however, some advanced features are behind a subscription paywall. Performance-wise, it delivers great speeds and range suitable for multiple users streaming 4k content, but it's generally let down by its lack of support for the 6GHz band. While it features 2.5Gbps Ethernet ports, it can't take full advantage of them, as in practice it only delivers speeds of around 1Gbps.

Pros
  • Great wireless speeds.

  • Small and minimalist design.

  • 2.5Gbps networking ports.

Cons
  • Lacks a 6GHz band.

8.0
Speed

The TP-Link Deco BE25 delivers great wireless speeds, capable of leveraging an internet connection up to ~1Gbps. However, its maximum speeds are limited by its lack of support for the 6GHz band, a common feature of Wi-Fi 7 routers.

Pros
  • Great wireless speeds.

Cons
  • Lacks a 6GHz band.

7.0
Range

The TP-Link Deco BE25 has decent range. Since it's a mesh router, you can add more units to improve its coverage throughout your home.

    Differences Between Sizes And Variants

The TP-Link Deco BE25 is available in packs of one, two, or three units. We bought and tested a two-pack. See a photo of our unit's label.

This mesh system may also be sold as the TP-Link Deco BE5000 or the TP-Link Deco WB14400, depending on the retailer. The specs for these models appear to be very similar on paper, so we expect them to perform similarly, but we can't confirm whether our test results apply.

    Popular Router Comparisons

The TP-Link Deco BE25 is yet another addition to TP-Link's seemingly endless family of Wi-Fi 7 mesh routers. It's marketed as part of TP-Link's "Deco 7" lineup of entry-level, dual-band Wi-Fi 7 routers designed for "small to medium homes". Within each lineup, there are variants of the same product with very similar or identical specs, but sold as retailer-exclusive models or in different multi-packs. This practice makes choosing a router needlessly confusing for consumers. This router competes with the eero 7, another dual-band Wi-Fi 7 mesh system. The TP-Link comes in at a significantly lower price than the eero, yet delivers feature and performance parity. Overall, the TP-Link is a good option if you're looking for an entry-level Wi-Fi 7 mesh setup and don't care about having a ton of networking ports or advanced features found on more expensive routers.

    eero 7

The eero 7 and the TP-Link Deco BE25 are dual-band Wi-Fi 7 mesh routers. They're both small and have minimalist designs that make them easy to place discreetly in your home. They also perform similarly, but the eero delivers very slightly better speeds at long distances.

    eero 6

The eero 6 and the TP-Link BE25 are Wi-Fi mesh systems. The former is Wi-Fi 6 while the latter is Wi-Fi 7. The eero delivers slightly better range, while the TP-Link delivers faster top speeds.

    eero Pro 7

The eero Pro 7 is a better router overall than the TP-Link Deco BE25. While they're both Wi-Fi 7 mesh systems, the eero has a 6GHz band that helps it deliver much faster top speeds and better range than the TP-Link. However, the eero is physically bigger.

    UniFi Express 7

The UniFi Express 7 and the TP-Link Deco BE25 are Wi-Fi 7 routers designed for different users. The TP-Link is more of a plug-and-play solution with limited configurability, whereas the UniFi offers much greater configurability and compatibility with UniFi's ecosystem of advanced networking products. Performance-wise, the UniFi delivers much faster top speeds than the TP-Link, thanks in part to its 6GHz band, which the TP-Link lacks. The TP-Link delivers slightly better range on the 5GHz band, however.
