Mattress Test Bench 1.0.1 adds scoring to the 'Foam Layer Mass Density' results and a new 'Longevity' performance usage. These changes allow you to see a mattress's durability based on the quality of the materials used in its construction, which is important if you're concerned about your mattress sagging or forming body impressions.

We already test the density of each foam layer in each mattress as part of our components testing. The score is now calculated by comparing the layer's foam density to a reference for good-quality polyfoam, memory foam, or latex:

Material Good Quality High Quality
Polyfoam 26 kg/m³ (1.6 lbs/ft³) 40 kg/m³ (2.2 lbs/ft³)
Memory Foam 48 kg/m³ (3 lbs/ft³) 80 kg/m³ (5 lbs/ft³)
Latex 48 kg/m³ (3 lbs/ft³) 64 kg/m³ (4 lbs/ft³)

We've also added a new 'Longevity' performance usage, which tells you how durable we expect a mattress to be based on what type of foam it uses and its quality. The score is based on the quality of each foam layer. Less durable upper comfort layers may start to form permanent indentations sooner, but lower-quality transition and support layers are responsible for more serious sagging, so more weight is given to the lower layers in the scoring.
