The Samsung 77S90H OLED is a midrange OLED TV released in Samsung's 2026 TV lineup, sitting below the flagship Samsung S95H OLED and above the Samsung S85H OLED. The TV has a matte screen coating that helps cut glare when you're watching TV during the day. It's powered by Samsung's NQ4 AI Gen3 Processor and runs the 2026 version of their proprietary Tizen OS, which has a massive selection of streaming apps and games, but like any Samsung TV, it doesn't support Dolby Vision. It has four HDMI 2.1 ports capable of 4k @ 165Hz and supports VRR. This review is for the 77-inch model specifically, which uses an RGB Tandem panel, that's advertised to offer brighter, more vibrant colors than the other sizes, but it's also available in 42, 48, 55, 65, and 83-inch sizes. We bought and tested the 65-inch model in a separate review.
Our Verdict
The Samsung 77S90H is an excellent TV that fits in just about anywhere. It looks amazing in a bright room thanks to its matte coating and high peak brightness. Of course, like all OLEDs, it delivers a stellar dark room experience, with perfect blacks and no trace of haloing around bright areas. It's also fantastic for gaming or watching sports, as it delivers incredibly crisp motion with no blur behind fast-moving objects. It also has a wide viewing angle that makes it suitable for just about any room, even if you have a very wide seating area or don't like to be glued to one spot directly in front of the screen.

The Samsung 77S90H is excellent for a home theater. It looks amazing in a dark room thanks to its perfect blacks, with no trace of haloing around bright parts of the scene or subtitles. Movies look fantastic, with bright, vivid colors, and its high peak brightness and perfect contrast bring out small details incredibly well. The TV's processing does a great job upscaling low-resolution content like DVDs, but it doesn't do much to clean up compression artifacts from streaming services. Unfortunately, it doesn't support Dolby Vision or DTS audio formats, which is a drawback for physical media enthusiasts. There's also noticeable stutter when watching movies, especially in slow-panning and wide shots.

The Samsung 77S90H is an excellent TV for a bright room. Its matte anti-reflective coating effectively eliminates direct reflection, so glare from windows and bright lights isn't distracting. This makes it much easier to see dark scenes during the day. Bright content also gets incredibly bright and easily overcomes any glare that may be visible on the screen. Ambient light also has very little impact on picture quality, with no noticeable change in color saturation and barely any change in contrast.

Finally, motion is crisp and clear, so you won't see any blur at all behind the players or other action on the screen.

The Samsung 77S90H has great image processing. It does a very good job upscaling low-resolution content like DVDs or cable TV stations. It also displays low-quality content like streaming services well, with no loss of fine details, but it doesn't do much to reduce compression artifacts like macro blocking. It has fantastic PQ EOTF tracking, ensuring most content is displayed the way the creator intended, and it has good gradient handling.

Differences Between Sizes And Variants
We bought and tested the 77-inch Samsung S90H, and these results are valid for this size and the 48-inch model. The 42-inch model likely isn't as bright as the larger sizes, and the 55-, 65-, and 83-inch models use a different type of panel that's less colorful. We also bought and tested the 65-inch model and reviewed it separately.
Unlike previous versions of this TV, there are no sizes that use a QD-OLED panel in North America. However, Samsung is still using QD-OLED panels in certain regions, depending on the size of the TV. Our results aren't valid for the QD-OLED version of this TV.
The TV is also sold with a slightly different model code at warehouse stores like Costco and Sam's Club, and comes with an extended warranty.

The Samsung 77S90H is an excellent TV. The inclusion of an RGB Tandem panel of this size significantly improves its overall performance, and thanks to its higher peak brightness and more vibrant colors, it delivers a better overall experience than the other sizes. This size specifically competes primarily against the LG C6H OLED, which uses the same panel, but the addition of a matte anti-reflective coating makes it a better choice for bright room viewing. It still falls slightly short of higher-end models with higher peak brightness, though, like the LG G6 OLED and the more premium Samsung S95H OLED.

The LG C6H OLED and the Samsung 77S90H OLED are extremely similar TVs, as they share the same panel, but there are a few notable differences between them. The LG has better processing, so it looks better if you're watching a lot of streaming content or other low-quality sources. The LG is also brighter with most real content, mainly due to differences in the way the two TVs process images. On the other hand, the Samsung has better reflection handling, and is the better choice if you have a lot of windows or lights facing the screen.
The Samsung 77S90H OLED is better than the other sizes of the Samsung S90H OLED. The 77-inch version specifically uses a different type of OLED panel, which delivers much brighter, more vibrant colors. Although it still relies on a white subpixel, bright colors aren't nearly as washed out in light scenes, so most content, especially in HDR, is more colorful. Other than that, though, these are essentially the same TV.
The LG G6 OLED is better than the Samsung 77S90H OLED. Although color vibrancy is very similar between them, the LG is much brighter overall, so bright details in movies and shows stand out better. Very bright content, like sports and outdoor scenes in movies, is also significantly brighter on the LG, resulting in a more vibrant experience overall. The LG also has better image processing, which is especially noticeable if you watch a lot of streaming content or other low-quality sources.
The Samsung S95H OLED delivers better picture quality than the Samsung 77S90H OLED, but there are a few downsides to it. The S95H gets a lot brighter than the 77S90H, so small details in movies stand out a lot better, and bright content like sports is much more vibrant. The 77S90H, on the other hand, maintains contrast better in a bright room. The best one ultimately depends on what you value most: brightness or contrast. If you're watching TV in a moderately-lit room, the extra brightness of the S95H isn't as necessary, so the 77S90H becomes the better choice.

It also has great coverage of the wider BT.2020 color space, with better coverage of reds and greens than the other sizes of the Samsung S90H.

Unlike the other sizes of the Samsung S90H, the Samsung 77S90H uses a Primary RGB Tandem panel, with much better color separation and stronger peaks than previous generations of WOLED panels. Note that despite the name, this is still a WOLED panel, its just the structure of the light emitting layers that's different from other WOLED panels. It still relies on a white subpixel for extra brightness.
It has a restructured subpixel layout, and the new RGWB is a bit better for text clarity from a PC. It's not perfect, though, as ClearType on Windows isn't well optimized to non-RGB subpixel layouts.

The TV supports the full 48Gbps bandwidth of HDMI 2.1 on all four HDMI ports. This allows you to take full advantage of multiple high-bandwidth devices, such as if you own both current-gen consoles and a high-end gaming PC.
