The Samsung U8000H is a very basic TV released in 2026. Sitting at the bottom of Samsung's 2026 TV lineup, it has very little to offer, with no advanced picture-enhancing features like quantum dots or local dimming and only basic gaming features. It's powered by Samsung's Crystal Processor 4k, and runs Samsung's proprietary Tizen OS smart interface, which has a huge selection of apps. We bought and tested the 65-inch version, but it's available in a wide range of sizes, from 43 up to 85 inches.

The Samsung U8000H is a poor TV overall. It delivers a lackluster picture quality, with dull colors and low peak brightness, and blacks are always raised due to its low contrast ratio. It supports a few gaming features, but can't take advantage of the latest consoles or gaming PCs. It's best-suited for watching shows in a moderately-lit room, as it's not bright enough to overcome glare during the day.

The Samsung U8000H is a poor choice for a home theater. It doesn't look very good in a dark room due to its low contrast ratio and lack of a local dimming feature, so blacks are always raised, and dark scenes look washed out. It's not nearly bright enough to bring out details in movies, so they lack punch. It also has very limited colors, so most content looks dull and lifeless. It has just okay motion handling when watching content, and it can't remove judder from 60Hz sources like a cable TV box. Finally, it has limited format support, as it doesn't support Dolby Vision or DTS audio formats, which is disappointing for physical media collectors.

It's not bright enough to overcome glare from bright lights or windows opposite the TV, so even bright scenes can be hard to see clearly during the day. Ambient light has no noticeable impact on color saturation or contrast, but both of these things are poor to begin with, so it doesn't really matter.

Finally, it has just okay image processing, and it can't do much to clean up low-quality feeds from cable sports channels or low-quality streaming services.

The Samsung U8000H has okay motion handling when watching content. It can't remove judder from any 60Hz sources like an older cable TV box or a streaming device with Match Frame Rate disabled, so motion is choppy and uneven. It has a very slow response time, so there's noticeable blur behind fast-moving objects. This also means that there's fairly little stutter in wide panning shots.

The Samsung U8000H has just alright image processing. It can't do much to clean up low-quality content like streaming services or cable TV channels, and low-resolution content like DVDs are visibly soft. It processes HDR content well, though, with excellent PQ EOTF tracking and okay gradient handling.

    Differences Between Sizes And Variants

    We bought and tested the 65-inch Samsung U8000H, and these results are also valid for the 43, 50, 55, 58, 70, 75, and 85-inch models. All sizes offer the same picture quality and overall performance. Note that with Samsung TVs, the four letters after the short model code (FXZC in this case) vary between different retailers and regions, but there's no difference in performance.

    Costco and Sam's Club sell a variant of this TV known as the Samsung U8000HD. This variant performs the same but comes with an extended warranty.

    The Samsung U8000H is a very basic TV that doesn't perform well, even considering its low price point, and most people shouldn't buy it. It has limited picture quality, with low peak brightness, poor color saturation, and very few picture-enhancing features.     Samsung U8000F

    There are no significant differences between the Samsung U8000H and its predecessor, the Samsung U8000F. The newer model offers a higher 120Hz refresh rate, but only with a 1080p resolution instead of the TV's native 4k resolution. This makes the newer model slightly better for gaming.

    Samsung M70H

    The Samsung M70H is slightly better than the Samsung U8000H. The M70H gets a touch brighter, it has slightly better contrast, and it has better colors. The U8000H is slightly better for gaming, though, as it supports a higher 120Hz refresh rate, but only at a lower 1080p resolution.

    Samsung Q7F 2025

    The Samsung Q7F 2025 is only slightly better than the Samsung U8000H. The Q7F gets a bit brighter, so movies and shows look slightly more realistic, but it's still not bright enough to overcome glare in a bright room. The Q7F also has better contrast and looks better in a dark room. The U8000H, on the other hand, offers a 120Hz mode, but only if you decrease the resolution to 1080p.

    Samsung U7900F

    The Samsung U8000H is very slightly better than the old Samsung U7900F, but the differences are very minor. The U8000H gets a bit brighter, so movies and shows look slightly better, but it's still not bright enough to overcome glare during the day. The U8000H is also slightly better for gaming, as it supports a 120Hz refresh rate, but only if you decrease the resolution to 1080p instead of the TV's native 4k.

    This TV has just okay accuracy in SDR before calibration. The most noticeable issue is its overly cold color temperature, and there's too much blue and green in most shades of gray. Gamma tracking is a bit of a mixed bag, as shadow details are crushed a bit but brighter areas are overly bright. Color mapping is pretty good, but saturated blues and reds are noticeably off and undersaturated.

    The TV has excellent accuracy after calibration, but it's not perfect. The color temperature is a lot better, with a much more balanced, natural tone. It's still crushing shadow details, though, and it's impossible to correct it without severely reducing the TV's already-low contrast.     The Samsung U8000H supports VRR to help reduce screen tearing.     Unfortunately, this TV's motion interpolation feature is completely ineffective at reducing stutter. While it helps a bit in very simple scenes, even our test pattern is complex enough that the TV simply gives up trying to interpolate after a few frames. Enabling this feature also introduces judder on this TV, so motion is actually worse overall.

    Unfortunately, this TV can't remove judder from any 60Hz sources, like a cable TV box or a streaming device with the Match Frame Rate feature disabled. Enabling any of the Picture Clarity settings also causes the TV to judder with any content, so motion isn't smooth.

    This TV supports most Dolby Digital audio formats. Unfortunately, it doesn't support DTS formats, which is disappointing, as many Blu-rays use DTS for their lossless audio tracks.

    While 7.1 channel LPCM is technically supported by the TV, it only works with sources that allow you to manually override the EDID, like a PC. On devices that don't allow you to manually override the EDID, like a Blu-ray player or Nintendo Switch 2, it's limited to 5.1 channels instead.

    The Samsung U8000H has a pretty basic design, but it looks better than many competing budget models. It has very thin bezels that don't stand out at all, but there's a bit of dead space between the side bezels and the first pixels.

    The blade feet are very basic, but support the TV well. There's no alternate placement, either, so you can't adjust them to fit a variety of table sizes.

    The Samsung U8000H has a sub-par frequency response. It can't get very loud, and dialogue is muddy and uneven at max volume. It also has barely any deep bass response, with no thump or rumble. Voices are clear and easy to understand at moderate listening levels, though.
