Goal

The goal of this test bench update is to add the test box we're using for the longevity test. This new test box lets you track the progress of the 10 monitors and TV monitors we're testing and see how their uniformity and brightness change over the course of the test. As only a handful of products are running on the longevity test, you won't see this box in most reviews.

What's New In 2.2

  • Added a new "Longevity" section
    • Added a "Uniformity Pictures" dropdown with multiple pictures.
    • Added a "Longevity Graph" to show the brightness changes over time.

Longevity 3.0

Along with this test bench, we're also happy to announce the launch of Longevity 3.0! This test takes a slightly different approach from the original. Our original longevity test included a few monitors, but they were running CNN rather than regular desktop content, so many of our readers noted it didn't really reflect real-world usage. We hope to address those concerns by running a new longevity test with a slightly different approach. The monitors on this test will be displaying a pre-recorded video of real desktop usage on a loop. The exact setup for the monitors varies slightly between units, and we're running 6 separate tests to address different questions about monitor longevity and burn-in.

  • Group 1: 100% Productivity (Windows Light Mode) (Monitors)
  • Group 2: 100% Productivity (Windows Dark Mode)
  • Group 3: 100% Productivity (Windows Light Mode + Dark Mode) (TVs as Monitors (LG C5 & C6))
  • Group 4: 75% Productivity / 25% Gaming (Windows Light Mode)
  • Group 5: 50% Productivity / 50% Gaming (Windows Light Mode)
  • Group 6: 25% Productivity / 75% Gaming (Windows Light Mode)

For the initial launch of Longevity 3.0, we're testing 12 monitors, including 2 recent TVs that we tested as monitors. The goal of this is to test different panel technologies, including newer generation RGB WOLED panels and RGB Tandem panels. Check out our launch article for more details on our Longevity 3.0 test, and to follow along with the results of the test as they come in.

We are retesting popular models first. So far, the test results for the following models have been converted to the new testing methodology. However, the text might be inconsistent with the new results.

91 Monitors Planned To Be Updated

We are also planning to retest the following products over the course of the next few weeks:
