Our running shoes Test Bench 0.13 aims to identify and photograph under a microscope the different foams that make up a shoe's midsole. Many manufacturers will use the same trademarked name for foams that use vastly different compounds. This update highlights not only the foam name and compound type (when available), but also a microscope image of the foam cells to give you an idea of the foam's microstructure. This should help you cut through marketing claims around midsole foams and decide on the best shoe for your needs.
